In LANGUAGE ARTS, we are continuing unit 5; relationships. Our mini theme for this week is “Explorations” The story in our reader is “Exploring the Undersea Territory ”. Reread this story on pg 596-599 with your child for extra practice. The leveled readers we will be reading are:

·        So Many Fish                ·        The Really Great Barrier Reef                    ·        Marco Polo

In WRITING we are going to be researching some famous African Americans. The fourth graders will learn how to cite their sources and write a report. We are doing this report because February is Black History Month.

For SOCIAL STUDIES, we are continuing with our South Dakota unit. We will be concluding Unit 2, which was all about Lewis and Clark. Some of the things we learned in this unit are:

We will be watching a documentary on Lewis and Clark on Monday and on Wednesday we will start Unit 3. Unit 3 is all about the Buffalo in South Dakota . Please feel free to reread lessons 1 with your child. They can be found at www.sd4history.com. For our Road trip we will be traveling to Rapid City and Hot Springs . Ask your child what they learned at these two towns.

 In SCIENCE, we concluded chapter 5 with a test on Wednesday. Chapter 6 is all about the weather and the water cycle.
